Quezon City (15 November) -- The city government will hold the 1st Inventors Expo and Trade Fair at the QC Hall grounds on November 15 - 21, 2010.
Themed "Linking Filipino Technology Resources and MSMEs" (Micro, small and medium enterprises), the expo is in partnersship with the Filipino Investors Society (FIS).
Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte said the objective of the expo and trade fair is to support the local government's thrust to develop a diverse, strong and vibrant economy; create a climate of consciousness and patronage of Filipino inventive ideas; products and processes that could help address the socio-economic development goals of Quezon City.
Belmonte also said that they will provide a venue to showcase Filipino inventions that are ready for commercial use in the priority investment sectors of Quezon City, and access to useful Filipino inventive ideas, products and processes for their businesses.
Its target audience are city-based MSME's and cooperatives and QC high school and college students from public and private schools, most especially those in special science high schools and those in sciences, industrial design and engineering.
Marilyn Siapno, OIC of Sikap Buhay Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Office, said the expo will feature about 100 Filipino inventors and their commercially-ready inventions for use in infrastructure, tourism and environment.
Activities for the fair, according to Leonito Jumadiao from SB ECO, included a motorcade and a press conference at the Bulwagang Amoranto.
Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice mayor Belmonte graced the opening ceremony of the exhibition held at the covered walk (bpth sides of the Risen Garden).
Beside the exhibition, there will be demonstration and training sessions, business center, information booth and food tent. (PIA-MMIO)
