Rudolph the Deer survives New Year's revelries at East Avenue Medical Center ... So What Happens Next?

(Rudolph the Deer)

This is an update to our readers about the issue of Rudolph the Deer who symbolizes all the endangered species in the Philippines who are in imminent danger of being destroyed due to the depradations of their fellow creatures - Man.

Thanks to a timely letter from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Rudolph was at least spared imminent destruction on New Year's eve as an item on the menu at the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) where he remains entrapped. The Diliman Diary checked up on him yesterday, where we were assured by the security guards that he remained in good health.

Now that we have entered into a New Year - 2011 - we are hoping that the request of PAWS that Rudolph be turned over to their custody be granted by EAMC's Medical Director, Dr. Roland L. Cortez. We shall keep our readers apprised of future developments on this matter.
