EVENTS:

ART EVENT: Embassy of Chile and The University of the Philippines launch National Poetry Contest for Filipino Students. It is a Project of The Embassy of Chile and The University of the Philippines System in commemoration of the Bicentenary of Independence of the Republic of Chile.
The contest is open from 19 September 2010 until 30 November 2010 to all Filipino students from any tertiary education (college) course except current family members of officers and employees of the Embassy of Chile and the University of the Philippines

The contest has the following division and category: English Division – Poetry

An entry must consist of one (1) poem of any form or length on or about the Republic of Chile—its bicentenary, people, scenery, culture and/or society. For more information, please check this link: http://bit.ly/b0ixpR

UP CHK WEEK: September 20 - 26, 2010 is CHK Week at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus. "CHK" stands for College of Human Kinetics and is one of the leading institutes in the Philippines in sports and exercise research and education.

Various activities are available for people to join or at least observe. If you're in the area at the time and are interested in sports and physical fitness, it might be very much worth your while to at least drop by. The University of the Philippines and the British Council are pleased to announce that the UP-DECL Centennial and the 2nd Access Philippine International English Language Conference will be held from 16 to 17 September 2010 at the SMX, SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City Philippines. This event will coincide with the 31st Manila International Book Fair, the biggest book fair in the Philippines (September 15-19, 2010).

THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT UP PRESIDENT: NOMINEES’ FORA

The Search for the Next U.P. President: Nominees’ Fora is an activity of the Board of Regents intended to enable the University constituencies to raise issues and concerns they would like the next U.P. President to address.

The Public Fora shall be held in the following Constituent Universities and beamed live to various U.P. campuses. Here is the schedule:

  • U.P. Los Baños D. L. Umali Hall
    1:30 – 5:30 PM Monday, 20 September
  • U.P. Diliman NISMED Auditorium
    1:30 – 5:30 PM Friday, 24 September
  • U.P. Manila Science Hall
    1:30 – 5:30 PM Thursday, 14 October
