Metro Comic-con 2010

Metro Comic-Con (formerly Manila Comic-Con) is the Philippines’ own international convention on popular arts. We showcase the hottest and latest in comic books/graphic novels, animation, manga/anime, cosplay, toys and statues, movies, and TV. Also showcased are our country’s greatest artists – from legends to modern masters of animation and comics – through panel discussions and autograph sessions, giving all Pinoys a chance to meet and greet our brightest creators. Our movies and TV partners offer sneak peeks of the most anticipated films and series, as well as licensed merchandise. Metro Comic-Con is also a haven for comics and toy collectors new and old, with lots of exhibitors that offer even the hardest-to-find items at bargain prices. Metro Comic-Con is also strategically located at the heart of Manila, accessible to every Pinoy from North, East, West, and even South of the city.

How Big Is Metro Comic-Con?

The first Metro Comic-Con, held last August 8 and 9, 2009 sold more than 10,000 tickets, instantly making it one of the largest and most successful comics, toys, and pop culture event in the country. Attracting media attention and providing a new venue for the ever-growing population of pop culture fans, MCC lived up to its promise of being “The Next BIG Thing”.

MCC is an ADVOCATE of Anti-Piracy

Since its birth in 2009, Metro Comic-Con and its organizers have already strictly enforced a NO BOOTLEG RULE. MCC was highly commended for its strong stand against piracy, declining even potential exhibitors who would be selling pirated/bootleg copies of anime/e-comics/movies/TV series DVDs and VCDs, as well as those who would be displaying and selling bootleg/re-casted statues and busts.

The Organizers

Metro Comic-Con is being organized and operated by Sketch Pad Studios, Inc. Apart from organizing events, Sketch Pad also runs a creative talent agency founded by young, award-winning professional artists and graphic designers with extensive work credits, which include international comics (DC and Marvel), books, and websites. Sketch Pad has a well-rounded roster, with talents that can cater to your every illustration, design, multimedia, and web development needs at a reasonable cost.

Sketch Pad Studios also co-published (with Anvil Publications) the best-selling art book RENAISSANCE: Ang Muling Pagsilang, which collects works from 60 of the Philippines’ best artists in the field of comics, animation and gaming here and abroad – the largest union of artists in the history of local pop arts so far. Proceeds of the book and sales from original artworks featured in the book will benefit the victims of the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
