Election for UPAA Board of Directors set until June 1, 2012
Calling all qualified members of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA)! The election for the UPAA Board of Directors for the period 2012-2015 is now ongoing. At stake are 23 seats in the Board, representing alumni from the various academic units of the UP System.
Blank ballots and the official list of candidates will be given only to members in good standing. These refer to regular or honorary members who have paid the annual (P300) or life (P2,000 / $50) membership fees.
Accomplished ballots may be hand-delivered or mailed to the UPAA Elections Committee (COMELEC), care of the UPAA Secretariat Office, provided they are received at the UPAA office not later than 5:00 p.m. of June 1, 2012.
Canvassing of ballots is on June 2, 2012. The canvassing will be supervised by the UPAA Election Committee chaired by former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Josue Bellosillo, with UP Professors Ruby G. Alcantara and Wendell Capili as members.
The UPAA was founded in 1913, five years after the founding of UP. It has a total of 166 accredited chapters in the Philippines and abroad (as of July 2011). Through the years, the UPAA has continued to mobilize alumni worldwide towards assisting the University of the Philippines in fulfilling its missions as the country’s national university and partner in nation-building.
To know more about the rules and process of the ongoing elections, visit the UPAA website at www.upalumni.ph or call the UPAA Secretariat at (632)9206868 or (632)9206871. The UPAA office is located at the 2nd floor of the Ang Bahay ng Alumni, Magsaysay Avenue, UP Diliman, Quezon City 1101.
