  6. Every year po ito for the past 30 (or even more) years. U.P. tradition ito sa Diliman, Manila and LB. Ang purpose nito ay para magbigay ng importansya sa mga isyu kagaya ng Bar Exam bombing, budget cuts, etc.

  7. The run may have stood for something, but the spectators make sure the message is lost, as the run is now just titillation for women to humiliate naked men.

The spectators’ actions are disgusting, and nothing more than degrading to the men.

You women should be ashamed, especially if you believe being disrespectful, objectifying, dishonouring, and shaming are not acceptable against women. Why would you accept the same against men?

Respect these men. Do not photograph or video these men, and turn your back when they run to show your support!!!

  8. APO's "ritual dance of the brave" is nothing but political theatre ... and why not? They do this to make an annual thematic point which they could have done equally with g-strings or spandex - but that would be missing the point. It is the Oblation, the naked symbol of Academic Freedom which these men seek to emulate (a later U.P. President had a fig leaf plastered on Oble's u-know-what for modesty's sake, but the original idea was for this statue symbolizing the youths' unadorned (thus naked, thus pure) sacrifice for their Motherland. As for coeds screaming shrilly up and down the hallways, c'mon give us a break .. it's all part of the fun and constitutes their freedom of speech (including to ogle and scream). Next year we suggest you attend and if you want, turn your back (nobody will stop you).
