The Office of the Ombudsman won its bribery case filed
against Sarangani prosecutor Alfredo Barcelona, Jr. and his personal assistant
Violeto Novio.
In the 23-page decision, the two were to suffer the
indeterminate penalty of imprisonment of two years, 11 months and 10 days.
Barcelona also got a temporary disqualification, according to a representative
of the Office of the Ombudsman.
The court found that Novio and Barcelona connived to extract
Php 5, 000 from the Chief of Police of Glan, Sarangani province Ludivico Ripdos
to exclude Ripdos from a criminal case filed at Barcelona’s office.
