Alfredo E. Pascual, the 20th President of the University of the Philippines (U.P.), today announced the composition of his new cabinet, who are drawn from a variety of different disciplines throughout the University of the Philippines System.
The announcement was made during his speech during the turnover ceremonies held today at Quezon Hall, U.P. Diliman. Dr. Emerlinda R. Roman, the 19th U.P. President, was on hand to turn over the University Mace to President Pascual. The University Mace is the symbol of authority of the U.P. Presidency.
"To help me bear the weight of the U.P. Presidency will be a team of accomplished U.P. Professors who will serve as my Vice Presidents. For the record, I have not worked with, nor am I personally close to, any one of my designated Vice Presidents. But the basis of our relationship going forward is clear. I expect them to share my vision. I want their loyalty not to me as a person but to our shared vision of remaking our beloved University," President Pascual said in his speech today.
According to President Pascual, the following individuals constitute his new cabinet effective today, February 10, 2011:
1. Vice President for Academic Affairs: Dr. Gisela Concepcion, Marine Science Institute
