Ateneo Students win Entrepreneur Philippines first-ever Entrepreneur Student Challenge

ENTREPRENEUR Philippines is proud to announce that Cultura Verde Footwear, a startup that produces eco-friendly shoes, won the first-ever Entrepreneur Student Challenge.

The competition was aimed at finding the best business plan among college students in Metro Manila. Entries were judged on the following criteria: completeness of proposal, soundness and viability, innovation and use of resources.

Beating 25 other groups, Cultura Verde, which means “green culture” in Spanish, is composed of Mary Felicci Ongchuan, Joey Ermita, Eleonor Japzon, Erika Ty, MJ Arevalo and David Nadela—all students at Ateneo de Manila University.

Entrepreneur Magazine launches first-ever Student Challenge

As it marks its tenth year of championing entrepreneurship among Filipinos, Entrepreneur magazine dares college students to turn their bright ideas into big profits with the first-ever Entrepreneur Student Challenge. Budding entrepreneurs who will take on the challenge have a chance to be featured in Entrepreneur magazine, and win a cash prize of PhP 100,000.00 and other special prizes.

Students enrolled in colleges and universities in Metro Manila can join this competition either as an individual or as a team by sending a business plan to entrepstudentchallenge@summitmedia.com.ph on or before September 30, 2010. The proposed business can be in any field and must require a total initial capital of less than one million pesos. The required format for business plans is available on the official website of Entrepreneur Philippines (http://www.entrepreneur.com.ph/).

Business plans will be judged according to the following criteria: completeness of the business plan, soundness and viability of the business plan, efficient use of available resources and innovation. The judging period will begin on October 3 and end on the third week of October, when the finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges.

The best business plan will win PhP 100,000.00 to be used solely as starting capital for the proposed business. The winning team will also get additional prizes from Aesthetic Science, Bliss Yoga, Etude House, Gold's Gym, Love Manila, OMF Literature, Sari Sari Mall, Neo, Red Baroness Coffee and Spa and Summit Media, which publishes Entrepreneur. Winners will be announced on the fourthweek of October and will be recognized as the Entrepreneur 10 Awards in November.
